Flexitricity operates within the highly regulated GB energy markets, delivering flexible electricity capacity at optimised prices to the National Energy System Operator (NESO), distribution networks, and other market participants. We also supply gas and power to a broad range of Energy Partners. Our core objective is to maximise returns for our partners by leveraging the flexible capacity they have available at any given time.
As part of an ongoing transformation, Flexitricity is adopting a product operating model to better support its most commercially valuable areas. The Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and Customer Success product streams are responsible for preserving and growing key revenue-maintaining areas of the business, ensuring Flexitricity continues to deliver efficient, compliant, and scalable services to its Energy Partners.
VPP - provides the operational platform required to aggregate, control and operate assets at scale;
Customer Success - delivering onboarding, settlement, analytics and customer engagement to maximise customer value.
The Product Owner – VPP and Customer Success will report to the Product Director and will take ownership of the product strategy, backlog, delivery priorities, and outcomes for these two product streams. Working closely with Engineering, Commercial, IT, Data, Operations, and other business stakeholders, the role will support the delivery of hardware solutions and a compliant, efficient, and streamlined end-to-end customer journey.
This role will be responsible for translating business needs, customer requirements, regulatory obligations, and commercial priorities into clear product outcomes. The Product Owner will ensure that the VPP and Customer Success streams deliver continuous value, improve operational efficiency, support revenue protection, and enable scalable growth.
This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced environment, offering exposure to the full product lifecycle and the opportunity to help shape Flexitricity’s customer and operational capabilities. The Product Owner will be a visible and integral member of the Product team, with significant scope to influence product direction, improve outcomes, and drive meaningful change across the business. Restricted Key Responsibilities • Own the product vision, roadmap and delivery outcomes.
• Own the product vision, roadmap and delivery outcomes for the VPP and Customer Success product streams, ensuring alignment with Flexitricity’s commercial, operational, and strategic objectives.
• Work closely with the Product Director to deliver Flexitricity’s product strategy, with a focus on revenue maintenance, Energy Partner experience, operational efficiency, and scalable growth.
• For the VPP and Customer Success streams, prioritising backlog items, sprint planning, setting acceptance criteria, and ensuring delivery teams understand business value and desired outcomes.
• Collaborate with the delivery team across Engineering, Commercial, IT, Data, Operations, and other internal or external stakeholders to deliver hardware solutions, customer-facing improvements, internal tools, and enterprise-grade capabilities
• Support the design and delivery of a compliant, efficient, and streamlined end-to-end customer journey, from onboarding and asset enablement through to settlements
.• Translate complex business, technical, regulatory, and customer requirements into clear, actionable product deliverables.
• Facilitate a regular product delivery cadence, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, stakeholder updates, and roadmap discussions.
• Work with the Product Director and Head of Delivery to maintain clear governance, reporting, and tracking mechanisms to provide visibility of progress, risks, delivery performance, and value delivered.
• Support the transition of delivered features, processes, and capabilities into business-as-usual operations
• Contribute to continuous improvement of product delivery practices, fostering an agile, collaborative, customer-focused, and commercially aware product environment.
• Degree or equivalent experience in Project Management, related subject, PRINCE 2, or demonstrable experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the energy sector, or a similar regulated industry
• Product Owner, Agile, Scrum, PRINCE2, or similar delivery qualification desirable but not essential.
• Demonstrable experience in product ownership, delivery, or a related role.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of delivery frameworks and when to apply them effectively.
• Solid knowledge of project management practices, tools, and delivery methodologies.
• Broad technical awareness.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and delivery excellence.
• Collaborative team player who contributes positively and shares knowledge to support team development. • Proactive and curious mindset, with a drive for continuous improvement and learning
• Capable of producing clear, high-quality technical and operational documentation.
