Landfill Gas
Our Landfill Gas portfolio consists of 25 sites across Scotland, England, and Wales, providing renewable base load generation to the grid. Acquired as operational assets in September 2020, this portfolio plays a crucial role in supporting the UK's renewable energy goals.
Landfill Gas, a natural byproduct of the decomposition of organic matter in landfill sites, is primarily composed of methane – a potent greenhouse gas. By capturing this gas and converting it into a less harmful form, primarily carbon dioxide, we generate energy for the grid while significantly reducing the environmental impact. Our commitment to environmental compliance is integral to our operations, ensuring that these processes align with the highest standards.
We manage and maintain these sites ourselves, ensuring they consistently meet performance and environmental standards. As the fuel resource at these closed sites depletes over time, the available grid capacity presents an opportunity to retrofit with solar or storage solutions, further enhancing their value and contribution to the grid.
