Energy Supply Manager - Optimisation

Summary of Role
The Energy Supply Manager will play a key role in strengthening and evolving Flexitricity’s position as a market leader in power and gas supply. This role sits at the heart of our commercial and operational delivery and offers a unique opportunity to help shape the next phase of our supply offering.
Flexitricity is a licensed electricity supplier and a gas shipper and supplier, actively operating across both power and gas markets. We also hold a number of key BSC roles, including Virtual Lead Party and Asset Meter Virtual Lead Party, with plans well underway to become a Virtual Trading Party in 2025.
The Energy Supply Manager will take ownership of the full range of supply-related activities — including operational oversight, regulatory compliance, industry role management, and the strategic development of new services. The role requires a strong technical understanding of market structures and codes, a solid grasp of the commercial implications of supply operations, and a proactive approach to managing cross-functional projects.
This is a hands-on role with significant visibility and autonomy, reporting to the Head of Supply and Balancing Services, and collaborating closely with teams across Commercial, Regulation, Strategy, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end registration and onboarding process for new assets under Flexitricity’s power and gas supply agreements.
- Manage Flexitricity’s implementation of Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement, ensuring full compliance and smooth integration.
- Act as a subject matter expert in Energy Partner meetings, providing technical insight on complex topics such as generation licence exemptions, non-commodity charges, transmission-connected assets, and grid code compliance.
- Support the review and negotiation of contractual terms for new supply agreements.
- Maintain oversight of Flexitricity’s Balancing Mechanism Units (BMUs), including asset allocation, registration, and de-registration.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all regulatory and compliance reporting in line with industry requirements.
- Maintain compliance with relevant industry codes and licence conditions, acting as the internal authority on regulatory obligations.
- Develop and maintain deep technical expertise across Flexitricity’s core energy supply and trading products.
- Represent Flexitricity at key industry forums and working groups, contributing to sector developments.
- Collaborate with the Strategy and Regulation team to advocate for enhanced market access for a broad range of flexible assets.
- Lead the preparation and submission of responses to relevant industry consultations within the scope of this role.
- Coordinate with the Finance team to manage and maintain industry collateral requirements.
- Partner with Business Development teams to support proposal development and address technical queries from prospective Energy Partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the National Energy System Operator (NESO) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs).
Skills/Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within the energy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of the UK energy market, including relevant codes, regulatory frameworks, and commercial structures.
- Experience managing projects that span multiple business functions, coordinating input from technical, commercial, regulatory, and operations teams.
- Experience reviewing legal contracts and/or working on initiatives involving complex regulatory requirements.
