Flexitricity’s optimisation services for battery energy storage systems (BESS) co-located with renewable energy generators, particularly solar farms, are designed to maximise value by dynamically managing the interaction between the battery and the solar generation. We seamlessly integrate advanced technology with human expertise to ensure both assets are optimised within their operational parameters while maximising revenue streams.
For co-located batteries, we optimise both the battery and solar output around a shared grid connection. This often means flexing the capacity of the battery to complement the solar generation profile, ensuring efficient use of the grid connection while capturing maximum value. In some cases, solar generation may take priority, allowing the battery to operate during low-generation periods. In others, market conditions may favour prioritising the battery, for example, by charging it during peak solar output or even buying out of a solar position to charge the battery.
Our proprietary algorithmic models consider a wide range of parameters for co-located assets, including cycle count, depth of discharge, temperature, and degradation costs, while also incorporating grid constraints, market opportunities, and solar power purchase agreements (PPAs). With these insights, our AI-driven systems create optimised schedules, executed by our human-in-the-loop trading desk and automated dispatch system, all under the constant supervision of our 24/7 Control Room.
